Octahedral developing of knot complement II: Ptolemy coordinates and applications

چکیده

It is known that a knot complement (minus two points) decomposes into ideal octahedra with respect to given diagram. In this paper, we study the Ptolemy variety for such an octahedral decomposition in perspective of Thurston's gluing equation variety. More precisely, compute explicit coordinates terms segment and region variables, motivated from volume conjecture. As consequence, present formula computing obstruction lifting $(\mathrm{PSL}(2,\mathbb{C}),P)$-representation group $(\mathrm{SL}(2,\mathbb{C}),P)$-representation. We also diagrammatic algorithm holonomy representation group.

Any Knot Complement Covers at Most One Knot Complement

Given a 3-manifold M , there are generically infinitely many manifold which covers M . However, if we are restricted to the category of knot complements, the situation is quite different. It can be shown (see Lemma 1 and bellow) that if the complement E(K) of a knot K is n-fold covered by some knot complement, then the covering is cyclic, and K admits a cyclic surgery, i.e. a Dehn surgery such ...

Two Applications of the Generalized Ptolemy Theorem

1. INTRODUCTION. The classical theorem of Ptolemy (used for computations by Claudius Ptolemaeus of Alexandria, 2nd century AD, but probably known even before him [7, pp. 123-1241) states that if A, B , C , D are, in this order, four points

Octahedral Crystals in Phycomyces. Ii

"Phycomyces blakesleeanus" sporangiophores contain octahedral crystals throughout their cytoplasm and vacuole. More octahedral crystals were found in the wild-type strain G5 (+) than in the beta-carotene-deficient mutant C5 (-), and much more than in the mutant C141 (-), which is sensitive to only high light intensity. In the wild type, the number of crystals per sporangiophore increased until ...

Modeling Distributed Hybrid Systems in Ptolemy II

Ptolemy II [2] supports the modeling of heterogeneous systems by using a hierarchical component-based architecture and well-defined models of computation. The basic component in Ptolemy II is called an actor. Actors have por t s , which are their communication interface to other actors. An aggregation of actors and their connections is called a comp o s i t e ac tor . A composi te actor can hav...
